TEDDY LEHMAN WINS BUTKUS AWARD®

 

The 2003 Butkus Award® winner is Teddy Lehman, Oklahoma, the announcement was made during a black-tie Butkus Award® Gala at the Renaissance Resort at Sea World of Florida. Lehman had 109 total tackles - 57 solo and 52 assisted - with 17 for losses this year. He added a sack, a fumble recovery and an interception for the Sooners (12-1) and earned the 2003 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award. Lehman also won the Chuck Bednarik Award as the nations's top defensive player during the Home Depot College Football Awards.

DACO presented Lehman with the Butkus Award® during the gala. Lehman's family and his head coach Bob Stoops were all in attendance. Also on hand were the other finalists Jonathan Vilma (Miami, Sr) and Derrick Johnson (Texas, Jr). The Butkus Silver Anniversary Award winner, Ohio State linebacker Tom Cousineau, was also honored.
